ABOUT ME

I am an artist and teacher living and working in Midcoast Maine. Since receiving my MFA in1993 I have been engaged in art making and teaching at the high school and college levels.

Exploring a wide range of genres and art materials, such as drawing, painting, mixed media, altered books, visual journaling, digital art, sculpture and printmaking, my work runs the gamut from narrative, mythical and dream-like imagery to colorful passages of "pop surrealism psychedelia."

Although the work somewhat changes stylistically depending upon the art media,
one thread that connects my body of work is the interconnectedness of life systems within the natural and her perceived mythic worlds. This general theme, interwoven with mystery, magic, astronomy, physics, alchemy, spirituality and humor forms the framework for my thinking and art making. Often the lone figures which populate my work can be read as "keepers" of little corners of the universe, working silently to nurture the love, compassion and empathy that we need in order for these beautiful and paradoxical worlds to carry on.
